About ENCOT Microfinance

ENCOT Microfinance Limited was established as the microfinance arm of the Enterprise Support and Community Development Trust. ENCOT Foundation continues complementary non-financial rural development work alongside the institution.

Guided by the 2026–2030 Strategic Plan, ENCOT is working to deepen financial inclusion, expand digitally enabled services and strengthen its readiness for future institutional growth.

Founded as ENCOT CBO

Registered as a community-based organisation under Masindi District Local Government and established to respond to community enterprise and development needs.

From 2006

Microfinance operations begin

Group lending was introduced for rural micro-entrepreneurs, expanding access to practical and affordable credit.

Post-2016

Restructured under the Tier IV framework

ENCOT Microfinance Limited became the regulated microfinance arm, while ENCOT Foundation continued the non-financial development work.

2022–2024

First strategic plan

A focused plan supported market growth, product improvement and stronger institutional capacity.
