Mr. Kasirye Edward’s story
Mr. Kasirye Edward began his entrepreneurial journey as a hawker selling clothes around Masindi town. As the business developed, he established a small retail shop in Kikubo along Masindi Port Road.
In 2015, a friend introduced him to ENCOT Microfinance Limited. He accessed an initial loan of UGX 1 million, providing additional working capital for his growing business. Over time, he continued accessing financing as the enterprise expanded, and the supplied client profile records that he is currently servicing a UGX 6 million loan.
Today, Edward operates a wholesale trading business in Masindi town, dealing in products including soap, rice, soft drinks, food products and detergents. His progress has extended beyond the business itself: he has acquired plots of land, including land used for crop production, helping strengthen household food security.
Before working with ENCOT Microfinance, Edward faced insufficient working capital, difficulty maintaining enough stock for customers, challenges meeting education costs and limitations in household food security.
ENCOT supported him through working-capital finance together with financial-literacy training and guidance on responsible utilisation of borrowed funds. This support helped him increase stock, move from hawking to a permanent business location, acquire land, construct a family home and improve household income and overall well-being.
Looking ahead, Edward plans to expanding the business substantially and developing rental properties on land he has acquired.
“ENCOT Microfinance has been instrumental in my success. Their financial literacy training and loan support have enabled me to grow my income and improve my living standards.”
